Located at 1100 N Atherton St, State College, PA 16803, Kimchi Korean Restaurant operates as a korean restaurant serving State College in Pennsylvania. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.
Portion sizes and pricing swing widely across this group, from a $10 lunch bowl to a multi-course tasting menu at an upscale sushi counter, so checking recent reviews and photos is more useful than the price range alone. In State College, dinner reservations for popular izakaya, hot pot and Korean BBQ spots fill up on Friday and Saturday nights, so booking ahead or arriving at opening is worth it. Many restaurants across Pennsylvania run daily lunch specials on weekdays that are not listed on the dinner menu, so it is worth asking. Halal, vegetarian and gluten-free options vary a lot by kitchen; call ahead if you have a dietary restriction rather than assuming the menu will note it.
Hours have not been published for this listing yet. Most businesses of this type in State College keep standard business hours, but call ahead to be sure, especially on weekends and holidays. No phone number is listed for this business, so the Google Maps link on this page is the best route for directions and any contact details Google has on file.
Customers rate it 4.3 out of 5 on Google across 652 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded korean restaurants in State College.
State College is in Pennsylvania, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and State College follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

This place claims to be a Korean restaurant, but itβs actually run by Chinese owners, and the food clearly shows it. Almost every dish tasted heavily of MSG, leaving that artificial aftertaste instead of real Korean flavors. The portions were surprisingly small for the price β definitely not worth what they charge. The bibimbap was the only thing that was somewhat acceptable, but even that felt very basic and lacked the authentic depth of flavor youβd expect from a proper Korean kitchen. The other dishes seemed more like Chinese versions of Korean food β the spices, sauces, and even the way things were cooked had a Chinese twist that didnβt fit. Overall, it was a disappointing experience. If youβre looking for real Korean food, this is not the place. I would never go back.

It was our first time there. We really enjoyed the waitress and the great food!!! It's been 40 years since my husband has had the Army base stew, and he was stationed in South Korea for a year. Plus I really liked the vegetable Tempura, and summer rolls.

Great service. Explain what choices are and how best to eat them. Provided extra napkins and even forks if not proficient with chopsticks. Wide selection of authentic drinks. Clean. Will definitely go again.

Great Korean place! We were a group of 5, dined-in, service was really great and warm. We ordered spicy rolls, rice cakes (comes without the fish cakes and egg for vegetarians/vegans), bulgogi gopdol, chicken gopdol, vegetable japchae and spicy chicken udong. Flavors were on point, the spice had a good kick and heat to it. Would definitely visit again/get take-out. One of the must try Korean spots in the State College area!!

Edit July 2023: ever since business was taken over by new owners, food quality and service has gone down significantly. If i'm not mistaken, they are no longer Korean owned and you can tell by the taste of the food. Very disappointing during this visit. We got sat down, very few customers and waited over 15 minutes before someone took our order/drinks. No one checked in or asked for refills and we had to walk over a couple times to ask for our bill. Probably not going back to this place. Edit: We come here almost every week now and quality of the side dishes have gotten better. Staff are always friendly. It's the only Korean restaurant you should go to in State College if you want to experience home cooked Korean dishes. We ordered rice cakes, yookaejang, spicy seafood noodle soup and kids bulgogi. Rice cake was nice and soft. A little expensive for the amount you get. Great portions for the rest especially the kids meal. Side dishes are a no. Kimchi was too ripe and very fishy. Cucumber was ripe too. I prefer them a little crispier and fresher. Overall okay experience considering there are not many Korean restaurants in State College, PA area. Food taste wise I'm comparing with
